La Princée is a blend of 10 small village parcels totalling just under three hectares. One-third of these vines are over 60 years old; the remainder were planted in 1985 and 2000. The 2023 also includes a small portion from the 1er Cru Les Frionnes. All the parcels are in the cooler, east-facing Saint-Aubin combe (valley) on rocky, limestone-rich soils. These sites are always the last to be picked because of their cooler location, open to the cold, northern winds that sweep down the combe. You can expect a racy, smoky, rocky white Burgundy with great energy and a limestone-rich personality. In the ’23 you get this but with more mid palate texture and generosity. Today, in Lamy’s new cellar, he uses a fair proportion of large Stockinger casks in the maturation.

“The 2023 Saint-Aubin La Princée comes from a vineyard suffering degeneration of vines, so one-third is younger vines. It has another vivid bouquet with yellow plum and citrus peel scents, just a touch of dewy green apple. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a keen line of acidity, open and quite forward with Cornice pear and cooking apple notes towards the finish. Delightful.” 89 points, Neal Martin, Vinous

A more direct and focused nose – less overtly open. Similar in the mouth – direct, intense, more silky too – a linear, mineral, wine vs the Bourgogne. Beautiful villages and sneakily long too…” Bill Nanson, The Burgundy Report
